Ingredients

  • 6 no Wholewheat Bread Slices
  • 1 no Onion Medium Size , roughly chopped
  • 1" inch Ginger , grated
  • 2 no Tomatoes Medium Size , roughly chopped
  • 1 no Green Chilli, chopped
  • 1-2 Sprigs Curry Leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander Leaves
  • 1-1.5 teaspoon Lime Juice , freshly squeezed
  • 2 tablespoon Cooking Oil
  • ½ teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon Jeera Seeds
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida
  • ½ teaspoon Red Chilli Powdre
  • ½-3/4 teaspoon Salt or as required

Instructions

Preparations

  • Take 6 bread slices and cut into cubes . If bread is soft , then no need to trim the edges of bread , only if it is hard then remove the edges.
  • Roughly chop 1 medium size onion and 2 Tomatoes . Finely chop green chillies and coriander leaves .Grate ginger and set it aside.

Method:

  • Take a pan , add 2 tablespoon of oil and heat.
  • Once oil is hot , add mustard seeds , let it splutter.
  • Now add jeera /cumin seeds , once it starts to change colour add curry leaves, green chillies.
  • Add roughly chopped onions, turmeric powder and saute well , till it turns translucent.
  • Add in grated ginger and saute for a minute.
  • Now add in chopped tomatoes and saute for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add chilli powder , salt and asafoetida , mix well everything.
  • Continue to cook till tomatoes turns soft.
  • Now add bread cubes and mix well everything. Cook for 5 minutes. If bread is very dry then sprinkle 1 teaspoon of water .
  • Finally add chopped coriander leaves and squeeze in fresh lime juice.
  • Serve hot with Masala Chai.
