Mathura Peda Recipe | Mathura ke Pede

Ingredients

  • 200 grams Khoya / Mawa/ Milk Solids
  • Cup Sugar
  • 4-5 Green Cardamom dehusked
  • 1.5 teaspoon Milk optional
  • ½ tablespoon Pistachios chopped ,optional for garnishing

Instructions

  • Take ⅓ cup of granulated sugar and 4-5 green cardamom pods de-husked , in a mixer or blender.
  • Blend to a very fine and smooth powder and set aside till use.
  • Grate 200 to 250 grms of mawa /khoya , approximately you get around 2 cups .
  • In a heavy bottom pan , add grated mawa and start to fry on a low flame.
  • Fry till mawa changes colour to deep brown , it takes around 15-20 minutes on low flame.
  • If mawa/milk solids is not fresh then it may dry out soon , if it looks dry then add 1 tablespoon of milk .
  • Turn of the heat and keep fried mawa aside.
  • Add ⅓ cup of powdered sugar( or more as per taste) , cardamom powder and mix well.
  • At this you can also blend the mixture in blender or mixer jar to get smooth texture.
  • Now grease hands with ghee/ clarified butter and shape the mixture into peda.
  • Roll in sugar powder , garnish with nuts and serve.
