About this recipe
Mooli Raita aka Radish Raita is a spiced yogurt with radish. It is made using fresh yogurt, radish , spices and herbs.
Though radishes are seasonal in winters ; one can find in market throughout the year . As mooli raita is cooling in nature , you can make this in summer or anytime as it comes together in less than 10 minutes.
Serve fresh mooli raita as a side dish with any Indian meals . I prefer to serve this mooli ka raita with Vegetable bath , Tomato bath or with any kind of Indian flat breads.
This simple radish raita has many health benefits too. Radishes are rich in minerals like calcium and prosperous , Vitamin C and antioxidants. They are also rich in natural fibers and are hence very effective to overcome constipation . Also , radish juice and radish salad are effectively used in treatment of piles and constipation.
Ingredients
Radish (Mooli - Mullangi) – Buy fresh radishes for the best taste.
Yogurt – I always prefer to use homemade curds as it will be creamy , thick and has natural probiotics. You can use any thick plain yogurt or Greek yogurt to make this raita.
Others- Flavor radish raita with sugar, cumin powder, green chilies, and cilantro (fresh coriander leaves). Using sugar balances the peppery taste of radish . Adjust green chillies as per your taste.
Optional add-on's
Whenever I serve raita with any kind of pulao , I like to keep it simple . Hence I didn't use tempering, If serving with any kind of flat breads , I highly recommend to give tadka as it elevates the taste.
Tempering - You can give basic tempering in vegetable oil with mustard seeds, cumin seeds and dry red chillies.
